Identification of a gene encoding an antigen recognized on human squamous cell carcinoma by cytotoxic T lymphocytes, SART-3 : Damu YANG¹, Shigeki SHICHIJO², Masanobu NAKAO¹, Kyogo ITOH^1,2 (¹Div. of Cancer Vaccine Development, Kurume Univ. Except for melanoma, tumor-rejection antigens were identified in a few squamous cell carcinomas. We report here the identification of the new gene, SART-3 encoding a tumor rejection antigen recognized by HLA-A2402 restricted CTLs. The sequence of this gene showed homology with reported gene KIAA0156 derived from the cDNA library of KG-1 cell line. SART-3 gene was expressed in SCCs and some normal tissues in Northen blot analysis. Antigenic peptides encoded by SART-3 gene were recognized by HLA-A2402 restricted CTLs. Thus, SART-3 encoded antigen might be useful for specific immunotherapy of large numbers of HLA-A2402 cancer patients.
